Hi Sinner,

Your fatt putt really make me ´lau hau shui´:) I always wanted to make it from scratch but it´s so hard to find good & fluffy yam here. They sell it frozen - yucks!
We are heading back to Spore & Msia for hols in Apr. Will definately order it fr the rest to satisfy my cravings :) I hope one day I´ll be able to get hold of a yam here and I´ll definately try yr recipe.

cheers

Hi purplegirl,

I 'lau hau shui' just thinking of it too. lol. Luckily we are going to have fatt putt again tomorrow to celebrate the final day of CNY. lol

It seems yam is very expensive in US too. Do hope you can find fresh yam one day. Lucky you - all that yummy food in April. I am sure you are writing up your eating and shopping list now. Not long to go - April is just round the corner.

Wah I really ´pui fook´ you...making fatt putt again! There are probably not enough Asians here that´s why the Asian shops don´t import yam, I guess. Oh yes, have already prepared my eating & shopping list :) Definately going to spend a lot of time in the baking supply shops :) Btw, which part of Msia are you from? Oh I´ll be visiting Kuching for the 1st time this yr. Very excited abt it too. Hv never step foot into East Msia in my life.

cheers

No need to make again as I have a spare one sitting in the freezer. haha I usually make at least two. Saves a lot of time. I am from Ipoh. Funny enough I have never set foot in East Msia either.

Ah hah...can fatt putt be frozen? Did you prep the yam ring first then freeze & just take out fr freezer & pop it into deep fryer? Ooo, Ipoh - food haven :) Yeah I think quite a lot of West Msians hv never set food into East Msia but I heard it´s really beautiful & tranquil there. Not as hectic as in the west.

cheers

Oh yes...no problem with freezing fatt putt. I prepare the yam ring, leave it to set in the fridge and then freeze in an airtight bag.

I usually take it out from the freezer in the morning and it would be defrosted in time for dinner. It needs to be fully defrosted before popping it into the deep fryer.
